Company History

The firm, formally known as Robert Marcus and Co., was founded on January 1st, 1934 by the late Robert Marcus, who immigrated to Israel from Germany where he had been a qualified loss adjuster and court expert since 1929. At that time, loss adjustment as practiced in Europe was virtually unknown in Israel, and insurance claims were settled by bargaining between the parties concerned. This all changed when Mr. Marcus introduced the modern, fact-based approach to loss adjustment to the Israeli insurance companies. Soon he was working for both local and international companies, establishing successful international ties that last to this day.

In 1994, the firm was purchased by Robert Marcus Loss Adjusters Ltd. and Mr. Avi Erlich, one of the main shareholders became the General Manager of the new company. Most shares remain in the hands of the previous partners who also continue to run the business. Additional shares are held by The Investment House of Singer-Barnea, which does not invest in the insurance market.
